Project Worker - Health Bus Programme

An exciting new project has been established in partnership with NHS Tees, Arriva and MFC in the community where healthy lifestyle messages are taken out on the road!

The MFC Health Bus, containing brand new classrooms facilities together with sports and monitoring equipment, will deliver an exciting mix of activities designed for the full spectrum of learner needs. The project will engage people of all ages, using the power of the Football Club to increase awareness levels of health and nutrition from schools, youth centres and partners in the region.

The successful candidate will not only develop, deliver and evaluate this innovative project, but also be fully trained to drive the bus in order to enable flexibility in provision.

The hours of work will be 140 hours in a 4 week period, Monday-Sunday 08.00am - 10.00pm on a rota basis. The contract will be a fixed term for 2 years.

Due to the requirements of our insurance in relation to driving the bus, applicants for this position must be 25 years of age or above.

Job Description

Overall Job Purpose

To be the key project worker involved with the development, delivery and evaluation of the "MFC Health Bus" programme, taking responsibility for all areas of the programme.

Key accountabilities

  • Plan, organise, deliver and evaluate a range of health education and physical fitness sessions
  • Build and develop strong links with schools, community groups, key stakeholders and other relevant organisations.
  • Drive the health bus and ensure it adheres to Health and Safety protocols as laid down by Arriva.
  • Promotion of all courses
  • Ensure that all courses are fully booked and all the targets set by the Senior Management Team are achieved.
  • Monitor and evaluate all elements of the programme, ensuring data is up to date and accurate.
  • Produce statistical data as may be required by management or funding bodies.
  • To work closely with the delivery manager to develop new areas of delivery.
  • Work with individuals, communities, community organisations and schools in a planned way to promote the aims and objectives of the programme.
  • Attend meetings to exchange ideas and information and share good practice.
  • Make a positive contribution to the formulation and implementation of programmes.
  • Prepare and maintain materials for sessions.
  • To act as cover for all programmes at designated times, when required.
  • To perform other duties as reasonably assigned or under the authority of the senior management team.

Qualifications

  • Full driving licence and the use of a vehicle
  • FA level 1 and 2 coaching badges, or working toward achievement
  • Basic first aid training/qualification would be preferred
  • A degree in sports/health related discipline would be desirable

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the PE National Curriculum
  • Knowledge of Health and Nutrition
  • Awareness and Knowledge of Health and Safety Protocols

Experience

  • Delivering Health Awareness Programmes
  • Delivering Physical fitness sessions
  • Completing lesson plans and schemes of work
  • Working with local community groups
  • Developing innovative training sessions to inspire and engage
  • Creating and maintaining effective individual learning plans
  • Teaching groups, and on a one to one basis
  • Experience of working with young people

  • Must keep up to date with new methods and undertake any necessary internal or external training in accordance with company policies/procedures.
  • Has a statutory duty to observe all health and safety rules and take all reasonable care to promote the health and safety at work of themselves and their fellow employees. The job holder must report any health and safety issues immediately to their line manager in writing.
